HomeLocal Area GuideOrlando Top 5Top 5 Outdoor Activities in Orlando

No matter what time of year you visit our hometown of Orlando, you are going to want to spend as much time outside as possible, even in the warmer months of summer and especially in the perfectly beautiful months the rest of the year! Our beautiful weather is inviting and welcoming, and because we care, we at Tropical Villas Orlando have created this top five list of the best outdoor activities in Orlando, knowing that no matter how you spend your days, coming home to our equally inviting and welcoming Florida sanctuaries will be the perfect way to end each day in paradise. Biking, hiking, and exploring the natural side of Orlando will bring you adventures you never want to end, but when they do, our homes will offer the softest place to land!

Take a Hike

With moderate temps and sunny skies a hike along the trails of Orlando is destined to bring you joy and LaCosta Urban Wetlands provide the perfect spots to do just that! Offering trails that take visitors through Orlandos most scenic spaces, the trees form a canopy to shade in the summer and the opportunity to glimpse some of Mother Nature’s furry friends, including white-tailed deer and river otters. Some hikers may catch sight of our state reptile, the alligator, sunning himself on an idyllic day, but don’t fear, they will be far enough away not to cause danger and close enough so as to be able to be seen quite clearly!

Ride a Bike

The LaCosta Urban Wetlands is also a popular biking trail, but the one that makes our list of the best outdoor things to do in Orlando, is the Orlando Urban Trail. Lasting just a few miles and taking bikers (hikers too) past lakes, gardens, and through parks, it is a relaxing and invigorating way to explore the Theme Park Capital of the World! The two bridges you will encounter during this ride offer stunning views and on warmer days, riders will appreciate the shade provided from the life oak trees that also parade along your route.

Stop and Smell the Roses

The Harry P. Leu Gardens, located at 1920 N Forest Avenue, provide a simply beautiful way to relax during your Orlando visit. Occupying 50 acres around the Leu House Museum, (open sporadically for tours) the gardens that are always open invite guests to stroll, to picnic, and, yes, take the time to stop and smell the roses. Offering collections of flowers, herbs, even bamboo and trees, we can’t think of a more beautiful place to explore!

Stand Up and Paddle

Stand-up paddleboarding is an ancient activity that has experienced a new resurgence as a way to exercise and find peace and it is also a sport you will enjoy during your Florida adventures in Orlando! Paddleboard Orlando (actually located in nearby Lakewood) offers classes and tours for SUP enthusiasts of all skill levels, including lessons for the newest of boarders! Our favorite tours are the ones that take place under the full moon, but their sunset tours are destined to earn your heart. For people who have been participating in the sport for a while now, Custom Paddle Adventures with Uncle Ned may be one of our favorite outdoor activities in Orlando.

Slip and Slide at Universal’s Volcano Bay, 6000 Universal Boulevard

Open year round, Universal’s Volcano Bay may be the top outdoor experience of your vacation. Offering exciting slides and rides for thrill seekers of all ages and sizes, the water park brings visitors from all over the world the joy they deserve! Not interested in sliding or tire easily?
