Fall in Orlando may look and feel a little different than it does in your part of the world, offering warm temperatures, sunny skies, and quite often a quiet vibe. Fall is the shoulder season in Orlando, a time when fewer travelers make their way to our Tropical Villas Orlando doorsteps, and although the parks will still be exciting, wait times will be shorter and crowds will be smaller. One thing that doesn’t change is all the fun you will have. This guide to the top outdoor activities in Orlando this fall and all the wonders that await you in our seasonal sanctuaries will help you prepare for an adventure of a lifetime!
A Walk in the Parks
This is Orlando, so you have to figure that your outdoor adventures will start with a walk in the parks— the theme parks, that is! Known as the Theme Park Capital of the World and home to the Happiest Place on Earth, you could spend every day of your fall getaway exploring a different theme park and not see it all. Disney, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND are the parks you know by heart, but don’t forget to check out Gatorland, a 110-acre theme park that is also a wildlife preserve, home to our state reptile, the American alligator. Offering meet and greets, crazy rides, and a zipline that will have you flying over the alligator’s habitats, this theme park may not be as well known as the big four, but it holds a place in our hearts!

Take a Hike
The weather is somewhat cooler now that summer has released its humid hold on us, and although we are more of an urban area, the Split Oak Forest Wildlife and Environmental Area, located at 12175 Clapp Simms Duda Road, is a wilderness area offering trails that will bring you through paradise. The Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Site can be found in this wilderness area, and a 6-mile loop will lead you through a variety of landscapes.
A Long Walk Spoiled
Yes, there will be a lot of walking during your fall vacation in Orlando, but this walk can be shortened with rides in the golf carts! Golf is a year round activity in this part of the world, but in the fall and winter months, it is hard to stay off the courses. There are nearly 200 golf courses in the Orlando area, and we haven’t tried them all, but they are on our list, and at this point in time, although we can’t claim any favorites, we will say we have a fondness for ChampionsGate Golf Club, a public course that you may be very close to, especially if you are staying in our ChampionsGate resort retreats!
Exploring Orlando on Two Wheels
We’re going to give your tired tootsies a break as we recommend exploring Orlando on bikes via the Orlando Urban Trail, although if you are dedicated, you can walk or jog along the path as well. Bikes can be rented through HOPR, offering hundreds of dockless bikes, or any bike shop which will also offer helmets, making your ride a little safer. The trail itself is only about 3 miles long, leading riders through a variety of neighborhoods and parks, but with the many extensions, can extend up to nearly 5 miles. Your ride on the Orlando Urban Trail will give you an up close and personal look at our beautiful city, something you might not have experienced if you just rented a car to get to and from all your different adventures.

A Taste of Orlando
Although there are many restaurants with patios that would satisfy the outdoor activity part of this tale, we are going all in with a suggestion that you visit World Food Trucks in nearby Kissimmee. Located at 5805 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and reputed to be the only permanent food truck park in the nation, guests can dine their way around the world, without having to step inside a single establishment! Popular with late night diners, it stays open until 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a great spot to hit after you’ve been out exploring Orlando’s nightlife!
Your Tropical Villas Orlando Resort Community
Our seasonal sanctuaries are located in the best resort communities, and whether you are swimming in the private pool in the backyard of your escape or are exploring all the community amenities, you will have the time of your life. The resorts offer wonderful outdoor amenities that include water slides, playgrounds, pools, hot tubs, and sports courts as well as walking paths that will lead you through the lush and verdant Orlando landscape. Reserve your favorite fall retreat today and fall in love with all we have to offer!

Enjoy the Great Outdoors
Orlando’s warm climate makes it easy to enjoy outdoor spaces year-round. From early morning walks to evening strolls under the stars, spending time outside is one of the simplest and most rewarding ways to experience the city. Bring along a picnic, find a shady spot, and take in the fresh air. Even a leisurely day spent outdoors can be a refreshing change of pace from a busy schedule.
Explore Local Arts and Culture
You don’t have to spend money to appreciate creativity. Many places offer free opportunities to enjoy art, music, and cultural experiences throughout the year. Wander through public art displays, discover outdoor performances, or browse locally made crafts at community events. These experiences can give you a sense of the area’s character and charm without requiring an admission fee.
Take a Scenic Drive or Walk
Sometimes the best way to explore is simply to get out and see where the road—or path—takes you. Orlando has many beautiful areas to discover, whether you’re on foot, bike, or in the car. A self-paced scenic route lets you appreciate the natural surroundings, enjoy the sunshine, and even stumble upon a few unexpected gems along the way.
Make the Most of Free Community Events
Throughout the year, Orlando hosts a variety of free events that bring people together. From seasonal celebrations to neighborhood gatherings, these events are a great way to connect with others, enjoy live entertainment, and try something new without opening your wallet. Check community calendars to see what’s happening during your visit.
Spend Time by the Water
Orlando’s year-round sunshine pairs perfectly with a relaxing day near the water. Whether it’s a peaceful pond, a gentle stream, or a lakeside spot, simply being by the water can create a sense of calm and relaxation. Pack a snack, bring a book, and make a day of it.
Enjoy the City at Night
Once the sun goes down, Orlando’s nighttime atmosphere offers its own unique appeal. Explore well-lit walkways, enjoy the glow of city lights, or take in a local outdoor performance. The city’s energy shifts in the evening, and it’s a wonderful time to enjoy a different perspective without spending anything.
Capture the Moments
A camera—or even just your phone—can turn any free outing into a memorable experience. Take photos of the scenery, document your adventures, or simply enjoy the process of noticing details you might otherwise overlook. These snapshots will become keepsakes that remind you of your time in Orlando long after your trip is over.

When you live in a place that almost never gets cold and the default temperature is usually toasty, you learn a few things about staying cool, and when you are traveling to Orlando, you will fall in love with our favorite tip. We aren’t going to reveal it at this moment, but we will say it involves a pool, and your Tropical Villas Orlando vacation retreat will enable you to explore for yourself if the tip works. And as you enjoy a family vacation filled with all the wonderful that our Central Florida town has to offer, we hope that you also schedule time in your busy itinerary to enjoy a day at home, perhaps even hosting a family pool party during your summer adventures, because we promise our Orlando vacation home rentals with pools will be one of the best parts of your vacation!
Located in the Best Resorts
Floridians have hosted vacationers practically since the first vacation was ever taken, and through the years we’ve learned all the ways to make visitors feel welcome. Also, we at Tropical Villas Orlando have learned how to make visitors at-home time as exciting and fun as their Orlando explorations. Our properties are located in the best resort neighborhoods in town, and our favorite way to make sure you are having a travel experience you want to post about is to ensure our guests have access to all the resort amenities in addition to in-home amenities. And yes, that means even standalone homes will be able to enjoy fun extras that almost anywhere else would only be available for those staying in condos. Below, we have listed some of the wonderful amenities you can expect to enjoy during your Orlando adventures while staying in your home sweet vacation home.
Resort Pools and Hot Tubs
If you grew up in a certain age, you may be imagining a single rectangular shaped body of water, crowded with so many kids that it just doesn’t offer any appeal, but our resort pools are surely not what you expect. In addition to a main pool, there may be water slides of various sizes and shapes, a lazy river that meanders lazily (it’s in the name) and even a kiddie pool with shallow water and a variety of colorful accessories. Splash pads may even be involved, offering the tiniest travelers fun water adventures while giving young parents peace of mind. And because less is never more in our resort communities, you can also count on being offered more than a few hot tubs to soak your tired muscles as well!

On Site Restaurants and Bars
Your Florida sanctuary will offer a fully equipped kitchen that will be a joy to utilize, but it is vacation, and if you are too tired to venture far, onsite restaurants may provide the delicious sustenance you seek. Order something to go and enjoy it at the dining table of your retreat, comfortable noshing in your new PJs and feeling your feet slowly regain sensation as you do. Additionally, the onsite bar we speak of will most often be a tiki one, and what is better than sipping a frosty daquiri while lounging on pool loungers as the Florida sun bathes your body with warmth? Absolutely nothing!
Game Rooms, Theaters, and Playgrounds
You came to Florida to have a good time, and you chose Orlando for your Florida vacation destination because you want to play hard, and when you picked our properties for your accommodations, the fun will not end when you walk through their doors. The community amenities alone—and remember each resort has its own set of unique amenities, so all may not be at the one you choose—are certain to be almost as fun as Disney and may included elaborately equipped game rooms, theaters with super-sized screens, and because tiny travelers deserve to have fun as well, playgrounds with play structures they can scramble all over while mom and dad can sit nearby enjoying the beautiful weather and the sun setting over the horizon.

Sports Courts, Golf Courses, and More
The list of amenities included with the resorts in the area is a long one, and your resort may offer basketball, tennis, volleyball, and pickleball courts as well as access to an attached golf course. As we stated at the beginning of this, no one knows how to show a traveler a good time better than the people of Orlando, and we think we have begun to give you a clue on how that is, even without discussing the family pool party you may want to host. But there is so much more to show you, including all the wonderful amenities you can expect from our charming escapes, so don’t leave now, you’re only about halfway through the story!
A Variety of Styles
No two traveling groups are the same, and as such, we offer properties that will fit all types of traveling parties. Condos that are cozy yet spacious and of course, feature access to community amenities, townhomes, villas, and standalone homes, each offering their own list of luxury extras. Step into spaces that are light, bright, warm and welcoming, and feel immediately at home even as you are far from your own home. Kitchens equipped with appliances that will bring a tear to the eye of professional chefs, living rooms furnished with large plush sofas and chairs while also offering state of the art televisions, books, game boards, and movies so you can relax and have fun together during your family vacation. Speaking of family, the family dinner doesn’t have to take place at local restaurants, the dining rooms of our vacation retreats will offer enough seats for every seat in your traveling party and you may want to take the meal outside to the screened in patio, again enjoying that fabulous Florida sunset as you do!

More Ways to Play
As you may have suspected, the fun will continue once you step through the front door of your Florida sanctuary, including the amenities we are going to discuss in greater detail below!
Game Rooms
Even as the resort offers its own game room, many of our larger properties will provide one of their own, equipped with a selection of game tables (foosball, pool, ping pong), arcade games that will transport you back to your high school gaming days (Ms. Pacman is a very popular arcade game in our homes), and video game consoles so your teens can avoid the tragedy of not keeping up with his gaming community. Some properties may just offer one of the above—most commonly, a pool table—and although everything listed here may not appear in yours, we can still assure you there will be enough games to keep the entire family happy.
Home Theaters
You may notice some duplication in these amenities, but honestly, can you ever have too much of a good thing? Our home theaters may be furnished with plush sectionals instead of rows of recliners, and the screen may not be as large as the one belonging to the resort, but being able to watch a movie in your jammies on a rainy night is an amenity the community theater won’t be able to provide!
Private Pools & Hot Tubs
Here on the large screened-in back patios is where the big surprise often occurs for our guests. Stepping outside to find a private pool and occasionally a private hot tub, even in properties that are not standalone homes, can be quite a wonderful surprise, and of course, will make it far easier to host your family pool party that we still haven’t spent any time talking about. (Be patient, we are getting there, we promise!) These spaces will offer patio tables for dining, barbecues for grilling, and the time you spend out here will bring you some of your most cherished vacation memories. Lounge chairs may surround the pool or may be lined at one end, offering the perfect spots to sip, sun, and savor your Florida vacation.

The Family Pool Party
Obviously, we aren’t talking about inviting a bunch of strangers to party the night away. You don’t need that; you already have the most important people in your life sharing this vacation with you! You also have all the necessary ingredients for a pool party with the family, including the pool, towels, and in some cases, fun pool floats that add a little extra charm to your party experience. Music is always essential, and if your rental doesn’t offer a whole-house speaker system that continues out to the deck, it will offer internet and everyone has their favorite music apps on their phone, so set your Spotify to yacht rock. Although you need to keep the volume at a reasonable level, the music will still set the mood for an amazing time! Grilling burgers and hot dogs, floating on that slice of pizza raft as your kids practice holding their breath under water, and of course, singing along to your favorite songs. A family pool party doesn’t need much to become the event that everyone will remember for years to come.
Sleep Well
Swimming, watching movies, playing video games—your time at home with Tropical Villas Orlando is destined to be filled with fun, and after the last note of music has faded away, the credits are rolling on the screen, and you are starting to feel water-logged and ready to wash the chlorine off your skin, it will be the time to start thinking about bed and sleep. Our bedrooms are perhaps going to be your favorite luxury, offering themed bedrooms that will excite the imagination of your children and luxurious suites that parents will be able to retreat to and shut the door to the rest of the world. En suite baths may offer deep tubs, jetted, tubs, showers with multiple showerheads or steam showers that will become your new obsession. Our mattresses are top of the line and the linens that top those mattresses will feel silky soft against your slightly sunburned skin. Some rooms will have their own private sitting area, some will feature a doorway to the patio, and most will have their own bathroom; our properties often include as many bathrooms as they do bedrooms, lessening the chance of a traffic jam in the morning.
And Most of All, Relax
There is so much to do in Orlando, you may feel pressured to get it all done in the week or so that you are here, but we can assure you, that’s not going to happen. Instead, focus on what excites you, and know that it will still tire you out, but that’s ok. When you walk into the air conditioned coolness of our Florida retreats at the end of every long day, the quiet will wipe away the chaos that can be Disney, the peace will make you feel happy and at home, and everywhere you turn, there will be a new way to relax, enjoy, and recharge your batteries, enabling you to wake up the next day and do the whole crazy thing all over again!
Every Day Is a New Adventure in Comfort
You have a lot of choices when it comes to choosing a vacation property, and we thank you for looking in our direction. We understand there is a lot of competition out there, and we work harder to make Tropical Villas Orlando travelers’ first and only choice for their home sweet vacation home, and we start by adding comfort. You will sink into the plush softness of our sofas, go back for seconds when dining at dining room tables, and of course, sleep deep and dream happy every night of your stay. The best vacations begin and end in the best vacation homes and when in Orlando, Tropical Villas Orlando is better than the best. Reserve your favorite retreat today!
Summer still has its tight grip on Orlando in August, but that doesn’t mean we locals just lock ourselves inside and wait for cooler days to release us from our cocoons; it just means we are a little smarter about what we do, and more importantly, WHEN we do it. And for travelers making their way to our doorstep during the warmest month of the year, we can assure you that you too will have a vacation you will never forget, doing all that you dreamed of doing and seeing all that you wanted to see. We at Tropical Villas Orlando have created this guide on how to do August in Orlando like a local, enabling you to see all the possibilities and create an itinerary that will bring you joy, especially when you come home to relax and play in our seasonal sanctuaries at the end of every day!
Water Parks Are Our Best Friends
If you remember long summer days spent frolicking at a water park, you will instantly understand why we have put visiting water parks at the top of our list. We are fortunate, there are a large number of waterparks in Orlando, but if you are loyal to Disney, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in Lake Buena Vista may be where your heart will take you. Offering a surf pool, multiple water slides, and Ketchakiddee Creek, a children’s water park within the larger park, during the summer months they also offer Disney H20 Glow After Hours event! Universal Studios and its water park, Universal Volcano Bay, may be where your loyalties lie, however, providing a lazy river, rainforest village, and an erupting volcano that will excite and thrill. Also located in Lake Buena Vista, you may decide to visit both parks over a couple of days and double your H20 fun while you do!

Air Conditioned Activities That Help Us Stay Cool
We tend to do anything we are doing outside in the morning hours, but when the sun rises high, we take our adventures indoors, exploring art and history museums. If you want to stay really cool, however, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, located at 7324 International Drive, takes a voyage through an American tragedy while also offering the opportunity to touch an iceberg and feel cold temps that are similar to what the passengers would have felt. It’s definitely a chilling experience!
We Tend to Eat Out a Lot
The culinary landscape of Orlando is an exciting and delectable one, and because we don’t want to heat up our homes by turning on stoves and ovens, we tend to eat out a lot. There’s a seemingly never-ending selection of restaurants to try in and around Orlando, and you may be feeling unsure about where you want to pull up to the table, making Wandering Palm Adventures the hero of this story. Offering quite the selection of food tours, including our personal favorite, the Downtown Orlando Art & Food Tour, you will be able to savor a sampling of what makes our town so special, and if you fall for the taste, you can return later for a more in-depth exploration of the menu at a later date! There are limited dates available in August, however, so you might want to sign up for your ideal tour today, reserving a spot at many tables and dreaming about what delicious adventures await.

We Sip Even More
Don’t judge us, we are just doing our best to do what the doctors all tell us: to stay hydrated! One of our favorite ways to hydrate is with a wine tasting at Imperial Wine Bar, located at 1800 N Orange Avenue. Maybe a wine tasting isn’t quite what the doctor meant, but the peace, quiet, and air conditioning makes this spot very appealing, as does the live music offered on select days. Also offering beer, this wine bar has done more for couples of opposite tastes than any therapist could, and we think your stay wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the Imperial!
August in Orlando Is the Best Time to Be Lazy
Once fall tiptoes into the picture, the craziness of the holidays begins in earnest, and if we take a few days here and there to stay home and be lazy, we have no shame. Our Tropical Villa Orlando seasonal sanctuaries are air conditioned, many offer pools, and all offer ways to play and have fun. Relax on comfy couches as you watch your favorite sitcoms, hang out by the pool sipping frozen margaritas and letting the water cool you down, and because our properties are located in the best resort communities in Florida, you can play games in arcades, watch movies in resort theaters, and count your blessings that you chose our properties for your August accommodations. Reserve your favorite today!
Labor Day might mark the unofficial end of summer, but in Orlando, the fun doesn’t stop. With warm weather still holding strong, fewer crowds than peak vacation months, and plenty of events lined up, it’s one of the best times to visit. Whether you’re planning a full family getaway or a relaxed weekend with friends, now’s the time to start mapping out your Labor Day weekend in Orlando.
Sun, Fun, and Just Enough Breathing Room
What makes Labor Day weekend such a great time to hit Orlando? You get the summer perks without the summer chaos. August crowds begin to thin, and the weather still delivers that classic Florida sunshine. Theme parks are still buzzing, but wait times start to drop a little bit. Pools are warm. Beaches are drivable. And you won’t be elbowing your way through every attraction. This window between the back-to-school rush and fall break gives you just enough breathing room to explore without the pressure.

One Last Summer Ride
If theme parks are your main event, you’re in luck. Labor Day weekend tends to bring out some of the best energy of the season. Many parks host special festivities to close out summer, and it’s not uncommon to catch a fireworks show or themed parade that weekend.
Walt Disney World keeps the magic alive with later hours, seasonal treats, and maybe even a sneak peek at fall decorations starting to show up around Magic Kingdom. Universal Studios delivers with thrill rides and seasonal vibes, while SeaWorld is perfect for those who want a mix of rides and animal encounters without quite as much hustle.
Not into the park scene? No problem. Explore ICON Park, stroll through Disney Springs, or check out the Orlando Science Center for something a little more low-key. There’s also no shortage of golf courses, water parks, and nature reserves to balance out the theme park energy with some calm.
Keep It Local and Unexpected
Orlando isn’t just about roller coasters. Some of the best finds are the ones that don’t come with a ticket. Head out to Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando for a morning walk or grab a paddle boat and coast alongside the iconic swan statues. Make a stop at East End Market for fresh coffee, local eats, and creative gifts you won’t find in chain stores.
If you’re up for a bit of a drive, nearby spots like Winter Park and Celebration offer charming streets, boutique shopping, and great patios for a lazy brunch. And if you’re more of a night owl, keep an eye out for live music, food truck rallies, and pop-up events that give you a taste of the local scene without needing to plan too far ahead.
Be Smart About Timing
Since Labor Day is technically a holiday weekend, things do book up quickly. If you’re flying in, aim for earlier flights to beat the crowds. If you’re driving, leave early Friday or even late Thursday if you can swing it. This helps you dodge the peak rush and gives you more time to enjoy the weekend instead of sitting in traffic or long check-in lines.
Pack for warm weather but toss in a light layer for indoor spots with heavy AC. And don’t forget comfortable shoes. Even if you don’t plan on spending the day walking through a park, you’ll still be doing plenty of exploring.

Book Your Home Base
Here’s where the magic really happens. Instead of squeezing into a hotel room or stacking your family across multiple bookings, give yourself the space to actually enjoy the trip. Tropical Villas Orlando offers private vacation homes that come with everything you need to unwind and recharge between adventures.
Why rent a room when you can have the whole house to yourself? Choose from beautifully designed Orlando villa rentals near top attractions, restaurants, and shopping. Each home comes fully equipped and family-ready with private screened pools, spas, themed kids’ rooms, and game rooms.
Located in resort-style communities, our homes offer a full vacation experience. Whether you’re traveling with young kids, teens, grandparents, or a mix of all three, you’ll find space, comfort, and convenience rolled into one. At Tropical Villas Orlando, we know what turns a good trip into a great one. That’s why we only offer properties that go above and beyond expectations, with amenities that make every guest feel at home.
Make This Labor Day One to Remember
Labor Day weekend is coming fast, but there’s still time to plan something special. From park-hopping to poolside lounging to eating your way through the local scene, this is the kind of long weekend that leaves you thinking about your next visit before the current one even ends. Book your Labor Day rental now with Tropical Villas Orlando and lock in a home that gives you everything you want out of your vacation!
Orlando may be known around the world for its theme parks, but that’s only one side of what this Florida hotspot has to offer. Once you’ve done the rounds at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, there’s still a whole lineup of lesser-known Orlando attractions and unexpected experiences waiting for you. If you’re the kind of traveler who likes to veer off the well-worn path, Orlando won’t disappoint. This city has more layers than most visitors realize, and the best part is you don’t have to go far to find something unforgettable.
Local Favorites and Scenic Stops
Start with a trip to Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the crowds and rollercoasters. You can rent a swan-shaped paddle boat and float around the lake, grab a bite from a local vendor at the Sunday farmers market, or just sit back and enjoy the skyline views. This is where locals go to relax, catch live music, or watch the sun set behind the fountain. It’s a slice of everyday Orlando that many tourists miss.

Playful Experiences with a Twist
For something truly out of the ordinary, head to the Museum of Illusions. Located on International Drive, this interactive experience bends reality in all the right ways. You’ll find rooms that tilt your perception, puzzles that play with your mind, and illusions that make for some pretty wild photo ops. It’s perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to do something memorable that doesn’t involve standing in line for a ride. It’s also indoors, which makes it a great pick for a hot or rainy day.
Another local favorite that doesn’t always make the travel guides is the Winter Park Scenic Boat Tour. Just a drive away, this peaceful cruise winds through a chain of lakes and historic canals. The ride is quiet, relaxing, and full of natural beauty. You’ll pass by towering cypress trees, Spanish-moss-draped shorelines, and some of the area’s most beautiful old homes. It’s a side of Orlando that feels worlds away from the high-energy parks and attractions, but it’s just as magical.
Something Wild and Totally Floridian
If you’re visiting with kids or you’re just a kid at heart, take a trip to Gatorland. This classic Central Florida attraction has been around for decades, and while it may not have the glitz of newer parks, it more than makes up for it with character. Think live gator shows, up-close encounters, and even a zip line over a pool of alligators. It’s fun, educational, and totally unique to Florida. Plus, it’s a lot less crowded than the bigger parks, which makes for a more relaxed visit.
Culture and Flavor in Mills 50
Orlando is also home to a surprising arts and food scene. The Mills 50 district is one of the city’s most colorful and creative neighborhoods, filled with street murals, indie shops, and amazing restaurants. It’s where you’ll find hidden gems like Vietnamese cafes, funky vintage stores, and quirky galleries. Spend an afternoon wandering around, trying something new, and soaking up the local flavor.

Book You Adventure to Orlando Today with Tropical Villas Orlando
Skip the typical tourist traps and make your Orlando vacation something different. With Tropical Villas Orlando, you’ll have a comfortable place to call home while you explore the lesser-known side of the city. Plan your stay today with us at Tropical Villas Orlando!
Summer’s coming, and it is important that your summer vacation in Orlando is as magical as you dreamed it could be, which is why, of course, you turned to Tropical Villas Orlando for your vacation accommodations. We are committed to bringing our guests the most idyllic of vacation experiences, providing properties that will give comfort as they also offer ways to play and to relax, and in the summer, they shine even brighter. To make sure your Florida summer break is as wonderful as we know it can be, we have created this guide to the amenities you should look for in our summer rentals in Florida giving you the tools to make your vacation dreams come true.
Air Conditioning
Of course, your summer rental should come with air conditioning—in Florida that is a no brainer—and Tropical Villas Orlando definitely offers that amenity (necessity?) in every property. But it is important not just that the property features air conditioning, it is vital that the system is well maintained, works efficiently, and cuts through the sultry summer heat easily, keeping occupants chill and comfortable. You should be able to feel the goosebumps popping on your skin when you step inside, and with Tropical Villas Orlando, you will.
Ceiling Fans
Now, ceiling fans and air conditioning should go hand in hand, in our humble opinions, but as anyone who has ever watched a home show on television knows, interior designers hate this amenity, and many properties in town will not offer them. We do, of course, understanding that a ceiling fan circulates the air, keeping spaces from feeling stuffy, and when you take that nap on a lazy Tuesday morning, lying on the sofa with the television playing softly and the ceiling fan whirring gently above your head, that nap will be one that will refresh, recharge, and be worth remembering!
Wine Refrigerators, Blenders, and Coffee Makers (or Keurigs)
The experts will all say it is important to stay hydrated, and although we are pretty sure the beverages we are about to talk about are not what they had in mind, we know that they will make your summer vacation experience a premium one. Our kitchens, equipped with high-end appliances, stone countertops, and custom cabinets, offer the perfect place to hang and chill, and wine refrigerators will make sure your white wines are perfectly chilled and your beers are never tepid.
That blender sitting in the corner of the counter (or tucked away in a cabinet) isn’t just for decoration; it should be used for whipping up frozen margaritas, sweet daquiris, or breakfast smoothies on the mornings you are seeking a light breakfast. Finally, iced coffee on a muggy summer day is one of those life experiences that everyone should be able to enjoy and with our coffee makers or Keurigs, you can and you will.
Game Rooms, Game Tables, or Video Game Consoles
Our Tropical Villas Orlando summer sanctuaries offer a long list of amenities, so many that you may want to schedule a day off from exploring all that Orlando has to offer and stay in to explore all the amenities in our properties. Our Florida escapes are all located within the state’s finest resorts, so if your rental doesn’t offer a game room equipped with arcade, game consoles, and a variety of game tables, chances are the resort will offer one that will bring your kiddos (and your spouse who has never grown up) hours of excitement.

Some smaller properties may provide a pool, ping pong, or foosball table instead of a full game room, and others may provide at least one game console. Additionally, if you or your children have a specific console they love to play and its not provided, there are plenty of televisions throughout every space to which they can hook up the one they brought along.
Home Theaters
This is Florida, and our lush and tropical landscape doesn’t just grow by magic, it takes rain, a lot of rain, to become this verdant, and as such, you should expect rain to fall on your vacation. Generally, the storm rolls in and rolls out again within an hour or two, and most often you will just have to wait it out to resume your adventures, but on those days when the skies really open up and the storm system lingers, tucking yourself away in our home theater rooms and watching all the summer blockbusters may be the most magical part of your Orlando getaway.
Offering rows of leather recliners (with cupholders) or plush sectionals that you just want to sink into and never move again, your summer break from the constant go, go, go, of your vacation will become the memories you cherish the most! Many resort communities will also offer their own home theaters so you too will be able to experience a movie at home as the rain falls.
Let’s Take It Outside
As you can see, the interiors of our properties are chock full of fun and relaxing amenities, but there is an entire world of fun waiting for you outside, whether you are in condo, a villa, or a standalone home. Next up on our tour of summer amenities will be the outside ones that will enhance your vacation experience, starting with resort amenities below.
Resort Pools, Waterslides, and Splash Pads
The best way to stay cool on a warm summer day is by splashing in the pool, and our resort communities will offer multiple ways to do just that. Resort pools will be large, clear, and cool, surrounded by lounge chairs, and waiting for you and your family to swim, splash, and dunk each other while the sun shines brightly overhead. Some resorts will offer waterslides and lazy rivers, others may offer colorful splash pads that your tiniest travelers will never tire of playing in, and all will be cool, fun, and waiting to make your summer dreams come true.

Poolside Bars
Is there anything more fun and relaxing than sipping a rum punch poolside while watching your kids practice their backstroke in the pool? There might be, we are in the land of Disney after all, but the poolside bars, often Tiki style, will still be an intrinsic summer experience that will bring you joy and happy memories when you return home to real life.
Hot Tubs
It’s true that you may not be all that interested in soaking in hot waters on a hot day, but after the sun sets and before the hot tub shuts down for the night (usually around 9PM in most communities), it will be an experience that you will love, especially at the beginning of your stay. Traveling for hours in the cramped confines of a plane can get your muscles feeling tight, cramped, and sore, and a soak in the hot tub with the bubbles aimed at the muscles that hurt the most will heal and soothe and help prepare you for your new day of fun and adventure in the theme parks.
Playgrounds
Not every resort community will offer a playground for your youngest, but every parent knows that the ones that do will help save their sanity. Kids seemingly have an unending supply of energy and even after a day spent hanging out with Mickey, Harry, or Elsa doesn’t always tire them out. Taking them to the playground and letting them scramble all over the equipment while you sit on benches, resting your tired legs and feet can be a life saver.

Miniature Golf, Sports Courts, and Kayak Rentals
The resort experience is one that is supposed to be filled with fun, excitement, and entertainment, and as if the amenities we have already listed weren’t enough, some resorts will offer more opportunities to play outside. Mini golf is always a family favorite, perhaps leading the way to a love of golf in general for your kids, and although it may be too hot to play basketball or volleyball in the middle of the day, morning or evening games are sure to enhance your vacation experience. If your resort is on a river or lake, chances are they will offer kayak rentals at a lower rate than going to the sports stores in town and as you paddle with your family, this unplugged adventure may be your kids favorite adventure of all.
Bringing It Home
Now it is time to bring the fun home to your Tropical Villas Orlando seasonal sanctuary, where you can step outside and be delighted by all that you find. And remember, even if you have a standalone home, it too will be located in resort communities, so you will have access to all that we listed above, as well as all that we are listing below.
Sit and Savor
If this is your first time witnessing a Florida sunset, prepare to be wowed, because its beauty will stop you in your tracks, and the back patios of our properties will have plenty of places to sit and savor the stunning beauty of Mother Nature’s finest performance. Raise your drink in toast to its beauty, and when the sun sets and the air begins to cool, sitting out here with drinks and snacks while a symphony of frogs and other night creatures perform their magic, making the night more tranquil, will be a memory you never forget. The seating areas may include soft sectionals, lounge chairs, and padded chairs that surround a dining room table, leading us to our next summer amenity, found in the paragraph below.
Propane Grills
If Americans didn’t invent the summer barbecue, they certainly perfected it, and many if not most of our seasonal sanctuaries will offer a propane grill (so much easier to light than charcoal) for your dining convenience. Dad can be flipping hamburgers as the kids splash in the pool (oops, we gave away a secret) and mom floats on a raft with a frozen margarita at hand.
Whole-home speaker systems might be one of the amenities your vacation rental offers, and as the Yacht Rock streaming station plays the music you know all the words to, this ultimate summer experience may end up being the memory that outshines all others, and yes, that will include the Disney, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld memories you make when you manage to tear yourself away from all the fun you are having at home.
Private Pool

Yes, the resort pool, the splash pad, and now a private pool will ensure that your summer memories are waterlogged, tan, joyful, and carefree. You will also learn one of our summer life hacks, discovering that a nighttime swim lowers your core body temperature ensuring that you will sleep cool the night through. Some pools may offer basketball hoops on either end of the pool, adding a competitive edge to your water adventures and others may provide a volleyball net that cross over the middle. And having your own poolside bar, the wine refrigerator and blenders are waiting for you just steps away, can save you money that will be put to better use as you explore the new world’s at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Hot Tubs
Not all our properties will feature hot tubs, but you will give a thumbs up to the ones that do, knowing you can enjoy late night soaks that are romantic and healing. A glass of wine, the dark night sky, and the roar of the jets will add a little extra serenity to your night, also enabling you to fall asleep quicker and maybe even dream happier.
Summer Shines with Tropical Villas Orlando
Come home to beauty, comfort, and all the wonderful summer amenities listed above every night of your stay and discover all the ways our properties will be an integral part of your vacation experience. Reserve your favorite seasonal sanctuary today and fall in love with summer all over again.
nb
Summer in Orlando is a dream vacation for kids and parents alike. While most people think of theme parks first, there’s a lot more going on beneath the surface that makes it a perfect summer spot for families. It’s the kind of place where every day can be a new adventure. Whether your kids love rides, animals, science, or simply splashing around, this city has you covered.
Theme Parks with Something for Everyone
No family trip to Orlando is complete without a visit to the theme parks, and there’s always something new going on. Walt Disney World continues to evolve with fresh shows, character experiences, and parades that add magic for kids of all ages. Themed areas like Toy Story Land or Galaxy’s Edge offer immersive fun for kids who love to imagine, while areas like Fantasyland keep the little ones entertained with more gentle rides and colorful settings. If your kids are into all things movie-related, Universal Orlando is another standout. Between interactive rides, themed lands like Jurassic World and Harry Potter, and plenty of kid-focused attractions, it’s easy to spend a full day or several, just soaking it all in.
Make a Splash Under the Sun
Beyond the rides, summer in Orlando also means water fun. With the heat in full swing, water parks are a must. Places like Aquatica and Volcano Bay offer a fun mix of thrill rides and splash zones for all ages. For younger kids, lazy rivers and mini slides make it easy to join the fun without being overwhelmed. Themed water playgrounds and family raft rides give everyone a chance to laugh and cool off together.
Smart Fun for Curious Kids
There’s also plenty to do if you want to slow things down or add a little learning into the mix. The Orlando Science Center is a great pick for curious minds. With hands-on exhibits, play zones, and live demonstrations, kids get to experience science in a fun and exciting way. It’s fully interactive, meaning they can touch, build, and explore without being told to stand back or stay quiet. It’s a great indoor option, especially for those afternoons when you need a break from the sun.
Another fun, kid-friendly experience is visiting one of Orlando’s wildlife or nature attractions. Gatorland is one of those spots that surprises people in the best way. It’s a mix of zoo, park, and adventure center, with everything from gator feedings to zip lines and nature trails. Wild Florida, just a short drive out of town, offers airboat tours through the swamps where you can spot alligators, birds, and other native wildlife. Their drive-thru safari is also a hit with kids who want to see zebras and giraffes from the comfort of your own car.
Festivals, Local Fun, and More
Orlando also has some great events during the summer designed just for families. Local fairs, food truck nights, and kid-focused festivals pop up throughout the season, offering bounce houses, games, face painting, and music. These are perfect for those days when you want to stay more local, avoid the bigger crowds, and still give the kids something fun to look forward to.

Happiness can come from living on the fly, and although much of the world believes in planning things out thoroughly and well in advance, there is a segment who often waits until the last minute, knowing that the surprises in life are what make it sweeter. Take your upcoming journey to Orlando, for example. There are many, many things you can do at the last minute, many benefits you can enjoy, and many comforts you can experience when you choose Tropical Villas Orlando for your vacation accommodations, and these tips for planning that last minute vacation in the “theme park capital of the world” (otherwise known as Orlando) will ensure that you experience all of the above and so much more!
Want the Best Deals?
No planning needed when you are seeking the best deals; just choose to visit during the off season, which in Orlando is March through May. After Spring Break has ended and before the end of the school year, the world goes back to real life and the crowds lessen, prices are lower, and the heat of summer has yet to begin, ensuring your adventure will be a comfortable as well. And perhaps most surprising of all, even the theme parks will offer fantastic deals that will help make your Orlando journey more affordable and we’ve talked about some of the best deals below.
Disney Done Less Expensive
Of course, a visit to Disney is never going to be cheap, but when slow season rolls around you can count on special deals that will encourage you to skip out on your responsibilities, take the kids out of school, and yes, you will be going to Disney. Offering discounts that are specifically geared towards families, you can make your kid’s dreams come true, get them an extra week out of school, and explore all the magic that makes Disney the top amusement park in the world. And even though the tickets are lower priced, you will also notice that the park is less crowded, enabling you and your family the opportunity to ride more rides and spend less time in lines.

Universal Studios on a Budget
First, if you are planning a May 2025 visit, be sure to do it early if you want the reduced price tickets to Universal Studios, because May 27 is when the newest adventure is scheduled to open, Epic Universe, and you know any reductions in price will disappear for the summer. September, however, is another month when prices drop, crowds are smaller, and your adventures will be just as exciting while saving your vacation budget. If you aren’t that concerned about saving money, Epic Universe is sure to be an exciting world to explore, but it may also be excessively crowded the first year and waiting at least until May of 2026 to visit it, giving it time for the newness to wear off.
SeaWorld Orlando’s Off Season Sales
While not technically considered sales, tickets do cost less in the early spring and pretty much all during the fall, so if your child’s school offers a fall break (more and more are these days) this would be the perfect time to drop everything and fly south to SeaWorld. The park has changed its directive in the last few years, turning towards conservation, protection, and education and away from the sensationalism that it has been known for and we think that it is more interesting and fun in its new transformation than ever before. Also offering crazy rides, delicious restaurants, and during the off season, far less crowds than normal, your last minute plans to visit SeaWorld could be your best ever!
Events Throughout the Year
Since you haven’t made your plans as to when exactly you will be visiting Orlando, this part of the guide will list the top events of each season, allowing you to have the best information at your fingertips.
Winter Events & Festivals in Orlando

The holidays are celebrated in a big way in Orlando and your winter visit may coincide with Christmas and New Years. Every theme park in the region will offer holiday themed activities, so even at the last minute you will be able to celebrate in the most magical ways, but the parks don’t own the celebrations.
Orlando Holiday Mark, December
In December of 2024, Deezerland Park was the site of the Orlando Holiday market offering over 150 craftsmen and artisans selling their wares, making your holiday shopping so much more fun and easy. Putting travelers in the festive mood, even as temperatures will be balmy and there will be no snow on the ground, this event has been a huge success and we look forward to many more years of shopping experiences with the Orlando Holiday Market.
ICE! November through January
Another local favorite has been around for years, the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center offers a chilly entertainment option called ICE! Technically this cool adventure begins in the Fall, but as it is more of a holiday event, we think it fits quite nicely in the winter category. Offering ice tubes, a presentation of Elf, “Here we go a caroling” Glow show and so much more festive and frosty fun, you may find yourself wanting to plan a return last minute NEXT year!

Spring Events & Festivals in the Orlando Area
We’re still avoiding the theme parks for this section on events and festivals but be assured there is always something be celebrated at those parks, no matter what the season.
Hannibal Square Heritage Center Folk & Urban Art Festival, April in Winter Park
For our spring events, you may want to check out a wonderful art event, the Hannibal Square Heritage Center Folk & Urban Art Festival held in nearby Winter Park the last weekend of April. Offering art & cultural events, interactive kids’ activities, and delicious food and drink it is a popular spring event that shouldn’t be missed.
Orlando International Fringe Festival, May
The Orlando International Fringe Festival, taking place in mid-May and offers an “immersive cultural experience that also includes a free music festival in addition to all the theater performances that will take place during the two weeks of this creative event. Just be warned that this event is more geared towards adults, but there is a Kids’ Fringe Festival that you may want to explore with the littles.
Summer Events & Festivals in the Orlando Area
The temperatures can get a little toasty in the summer months, but there are still fun events you can enjoy inside, away from the heat and humidity and a couple of our favorites are listed below.
Summer Magick Festival, June
including the Summer Magick Festival, held in the middle of June, technically about a week before summer begins, but are you really going to hold that against us after experiencing the warmth of Orlando in June? This unique festival celebrates earth-based spirituality with workshops, discussions, musical performances and a magical ambience that will ensure that you never forget your time participating in this wonderful event.

Independence Day, July
July 4th is celebrated with fireworks, food trucks, music, and an apple pie bakeoff in Avalon Park, offering the most all-American celebration you can imagine and providing travelers with happy activities that are destined to be tomorrow’s cherished memories. This event is an outside one, of course, there would never be fireworks under a roof, so just be sure to drink lots of water and wear cool clothing.
Tay Tay Dance Party, August
The Tay Tay Dance Party, held in mid-August, will make you happy that summer has arrived. The Tay Tay Dance Party is a dance party that pays homage to the queen herself, Ms. Taylor Swift. She doesn’t make an appearance, a DJ spins her songs accompanied by a laser light show, but it will feel as if T. Swizzle has never left the building when you dance the night away at this very popular event!
Fall Events and Festivals in the Orlando Area
As we start to head into another off season, September is another month when prices are low, crowds are less, and the deals are everywhere. Fall is also when the events and festivals listed below begin to appear on our horizon.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World, September
You’ve watched the show for years, now it is time to watch RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World come to the stage in Orlando. Offering many of the contestants that appeared on the show RuPaul’s Drag Race, this is the perfect opportunity to see if these stunning women really are as gorgeous as they appear to be on television. (Spoiler alert: They ARE!)
Romantasy Book Con & Midnight Masquerade, October
We wait all year for this fantastic con to come back to town, and the Romantasy Book Con & Midnight Masquerade never fails to please! Offering three days of books, the authors who write the books, the people who sell the books, games, cocktail hours, and the most romantic Midnight Masquerade costume ball you have ever attended, Magic comes to Orlando and for once the magic doesn’t involve a famous mouse or a basketball game!
A Taste of Orlando
The thing about last-minute plans is that you may worry you won’t find things to do that don’t require advance planning or that the restaurants you can get reservations in at the last minute won’t be the good ones. This is Orlando, dear friends, and everything is possible, including finding a good table at the last minute in the restaurants listed below!
Reyes Mezcaleria, 821 N Orange Avenue
The international selection of restaurants in Orlando may boggle your mind, but we have to tell you that we have a soft spot in our hearts for the Mexican ones, including Reyes Mezcaleria. Offering an extensive menu of Mexican favorites and some new dishes that you may obsess over and over 150 Agave selections, if there aren’t any tables available at first, waiting at the bar will ensure that you won’t even care about the wait!

Dixie Belle’s Café, 7125 S Orange Avenue
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and Dixie Belle’s Café serves up the morning meal Southern style and if you leave here still feeling hungry we applaud your appetite! The meals they serve are huge and loaded with carbs that make you just feel better and the kids menu at this family owned restaurant proves that they really do know what the littles love to eat.
